Bill splitting calculator

Divide a bill with tax and tip between any number of people.

Each person pays$101.07Split 3 ways
Tip$43.20
Total$303.20

How it works

The tip is a percentage of the pre-tax bill. The total adds the bill, tax, and tip, and is then divided evenly by the number of people.

Many people tip on the pre-tax amount, but some tip on the total. If you prefer that, add the tax to the bill amount and enter 0 for tax.

Example

With the sample inputs shown above (Bill before tax and tip ($) = 240; Tax ($) = 20; Tip (%) = 18; Number of people = 3), the calculator returns: Each person pays: $101.07 (Split 3 ways); Tip: $43.20; Total: $303.20.

Things to know

Enter the pre-tax bill and the tax separately so the tip is calculated on the right amount. If your group prefers to tip on the full total, add the tax to the bill and set tax to zero. For uneven orders, split shared items evenly and add each person’s own items.
